Houseparent Q&A

We currently do not have any openings for houseparent couples.  However, we always want to hear from couples who might be interested in becoming future houseparents for either girls’ or boys’ homes.

On average our houseparent couples tend to stay at the Ranch for four years (far exceeding the national average tenure of eight months). Because we have 10 children’s homes on our campus, we normally average two openings for houseparent couples every year.

In this role, you can serve our children in one of two ways — either as full-time Houseparents or part-time Respite Houseparents.

Houseparents live full-time on the Ranch in one of our lovely homes. They provide care, nurturing and structure for up to seven children. They are supported by an Assistant Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor.  To be considered, couples must be married at least 3 years and have no more than 2 children living at home.

Bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus, but not required.

Respite Houseparents continue to live in their own homes and keep their full-time jobs outside the Ranch. They may be asked to stand in for a Houseparent couple who must be away from the Ranch for a family emergency or while we are waiting for new full-time Houseparents to begin their tenure.  Respite Houseparents receive full training. Couples with up to 3 children of their own living at home may be considered for this position.
