Equine Program Maintenance Assistant

EQUINE PROGRAM MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT 

REPORTS TO: Kate Baxter (Equine Program Manager)

EMPL CLASS: Part Time (10 hours/week) 

DAYS: 2-3 days/ week

EMPLOYMENT TERMS: hourly 

POSITION PURPOSE: 

  • To assist Equine Program Manager in maintaining equipment and equine facilities 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Assists in the maintenance of barn, arena, trail, pastures, and equipment through fence maintenance and repairs, painting, cleaning, manure cleanup, mowing and weed-eating, vehicle and equipment maintenance, etc. 
  • Runs errands as necessary to pick up hay, grain, shavings, replace equipment, etc.
  •  Occasionally assists with Volunteer Groups/Volunteer Days at the barn

CORE COMPETENCIES/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TEMPERAMENT 

  • Mature Christian, actively involved in local church and committed to their spiritual walk
  • Experience with basic machinery, tools, and farm equipment
  • General comfortability and knowledge around horses/livestock 
  • Strong internal work-ethic, as well as good personal character and integrity 
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to follow directions and take feedback, as well as think creatively and quickly

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Experience with tractors/farm equipment
  • Valid driver’s license
