Eagle Ranch is now hiring a Mental Health Therapist/Counselor for our Residential Program.

ABOUT EAGLE RANCH

Eagle Ranch is a Christ-centered nonprofit organization located in Flowery Branch, Georgia, that takes a whole family approach to restoring and renewing relationships for children and families. Eagle Ranch was founded in 1985 and has served thousands of children and their families.

PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Mental Health Therapist/Counselor provides clinical oversight and documentation for 12 to 18 female residents and their families. The Mental Health Therapist/Counselor provides services to each assigned family as they move through the Residential Program: admissions, individual, group, and family counseling, discharge, and aftercare. Throughout the process, the counselor is instrumental in crisis intervention, mediation, prevention, and development. This position works with residents and their families with the hope of facilitating successful completion of our Residential Program by meeting graduation goals.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ADMISSIONS:

  • Reviews admissions files presented by the Admissions team.
  • Conducts a counseling interview with family applicants and provides direction regarding acceptance.
  • Coordinates placement services with the Admissions team.

COUNSELING:

  • Provides oversight and clinical supervision of 12 to 18 female residents through individual, group, and family counseling, including multi-family groups.
  • Provide clinical advice and support during crises or sensitive clinical moments where the homelife staff needs assistance.
  • Facilitate peer groups and parent groups in the home with the assistance of the homelife team members.
  • Provide insight to homelife staff regarding family systems, structural therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, choice/consequence and parenting styles.
  • Facilitate two family sessions a month with each family and build individual rapport with residents, offering individual counseling as needed.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the resident and family’s genogram, family roles, grid, and dysfunctional pattern.
  • Develop a family goals game plan of interventions that will promote positive change.

PROGRAM FACILITATION:

  • Supports the program director in training houseparents and program assistants to build therapeutic relationships with children and families.
  • Assists in teaching and overseeing home-based program elements, including group process, discipline, structure, supervision, encouragement, and parent collaboration.
  • Guides families toward graduation goals and coordinates appropriate post-discharge referrals.
  • Collaborates with the case manager on treatment planning and progress monitoring.
  • Partners with the clinical trainer and program director to clinically supervise residents and families.
  • Coordinates with school staff to ensure appropriate educational support.
  • Engages with community agencies to support continuity of care.
  • Works closely with Eagle Ranch staff to ensure effective service delivery and communication.
  • Participates in regular case reviews and decision-making meetings with program leadership and peers.
  • Ensures compliance with Office of Residential Child Care regulations and manages incident reporting as needed.
  • Maintains clinical documentation in BestNotes.
  • Completes additional tasks as assigned by the program director.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Affirms and exhibits a life in line with Eagle Ranch’s Statement of Faith.
  • Licensed Professional Counselor, Marriage & Family Therapist, or Clinical Social Worker; Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of child development and family and group dynamics.
  • Strong understanding and ability to implement systemic, strategic, and structural work with families.
  • Ability to work split schedules of morning and evenings on occasion to accommodate family sessions, parent groups, and Parent Insight Nights.  
  • Ability to relate to a wide range of individuals from social, economic, emotional, and spiritual standpoints.
  • Experience in counseling children, adolescents, and their families required.  
  • Skilled group facilitator with a thorough understanding of group dynamics.
  • Experience with and knowledge of BestNotes database preferred.
  • Ability to use common computer applications, competent in Microsoft Office, and familiarity with the internet and email communications.  
  • Required to be available for crisis intervention on an ongoing basis for three homes and for the entire program on a rotating basis.
